On the 26th of March the Tasmanian cosplay community will be holding a 'Cosplay Catwalk' to raise money to go toward the quake/tsunami relief. The event will be held at the Derwent Room at the Casino, Wrest Point there will be some beautiful costumes on display, and a cocktail function afterwards. After the success of the Madman National Cosplay Championships last year, the competition has been expanded for 2010 and is going to be an exciting end for the convention season in Australia!

The Finals in 2010 will be held in Brisbane and it looks like it is going to be a huge occasion!

The finals bring together the eight sets of the best cosplayers from around the country. This year the finalists are:

Wirru – Wildcard Entry

The cosplayers may be the main attraction but the event has been added to this year and will feature two international guests! Stephanie Sheh the English voice actress for such anime as Naruto, Bleach,  Eureka 7, FLCL, Hare+Guu, Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and many more. Joining her will be 'Cosplayer extraordinaire' Alodia Gosiengfiao. Alodia is a world renown cosplayer from the Philippines and will be a guest judge for the finals.

There will also be the usual games, vendors and panels (one hosted by myself and 2009 MNCC winner, Christie) so there will be plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained!

An exciting new event is happening on the Gold Coast. The inaugural Japanime showcase.

Even though there is not Cosplay competition this year, they still welcome people to go to the event in Cosplay. There will be a cosplay parade from 1pm to 2pm.

There is also a Japanese TOP 10 manga section and Japanese new animation called “Vandetta” on display on the 13th November.
