Entering the finale of Madman Cosplay Championship preliminary rounds, Brisbane and Melbourne have already chosen their representing cosplayers, after a moving number of performances. This time, Sydney striked an impressive note as 13 cosplayers strutted the madman stage during Supanova. Where: The Dome, Olympic Park Supanova Sydney 2010 Photos (by AnthraxX)
The passion in each cosplayer was evident as they showed off the remarkable amount of detail put into their costumes and performances. Highlights include Su Wong and Larlyn Tanasap who were cosplaying Nana and Ren, as they performed a heart-aching performance depicting the ever-struggling relationship between the two characters. After the extraordinary performances, first place was awarded to Kenny and Tsubaki, who were cosplayed Guts and Casca from the classic manga Berserk. They re-enacted an intense fight scene with astonishing weapons and armours.
Second place was awarded to Will who cosplayed Griffith, also an character from Berserk. Will gave an incredible monologue, portraying the angst and suffering the character goes through. Will stuns the audience as he finishes the performance by pouring (fake) blood on himself. Third place goes to the hilarious Anna who delivered an hilarious performance as the wicked Kefka from Final Fantasy VI. Her evil yet witty portrayal of the chracter, had the audience in stiches. Congratulations to Kenny and Tsubaki who will represent Sydney as they enter the championship held in Brisbane later this year, along with the new preliminary winners from Perth, Min and Jen. This year’s championship will surely be another marvellous showcase of Australia’s best cosplayers.
