SMASH! (Sydney Manga and Anime SHow) is a fan run convention held at the University of New South Wales and is one of the newer conventions on the Australian scene. This was the first year for myself to attend and it was also the first year for them to expand to two days. How did things go?

Where: Town Hall, Sydney
When: 28th – 29th of September Town hall in general was a pretty good place for cosplayers. It gave them the opportunity to get some wonderful photos with some very historic looking buildings in the background. The temperature inside was fairly well controlled as well which was fortunate as it was a very hot day. If the hall ways were crowded though it was very hard to move around and there were lots of steps! Also the policy of making cosplayers check in there weapons into the cloak room then CHARGING them for it is a bit of a low blow. The stage and the runway were very good and gave a good opportunity for photographers (if they held the pose long enough). |
