Not content with visiting just once a year, Animania came back for round two of the anime and manga day festival at the Mecure Hotel in Brisbane. Proving that bigger is better, the large venue and crowd made for a cosplay-loaded event.

Where: Mercure Hotel, Brisbane
When: October 30, 2010.

While no teams decided to enter this round of WCS preliminaries, Animania certainly wasn't lacking in events featuring cosplay. Con-goers were able to enjoy a cosplay panel, a cosplay competition and footage from the 2010 World Cosplay Summit.

The cosplay panel was an in-depth discussion held by Sabina and Jem. The panel was highly informative and covered the basics of cosplay from pattern alteration, fabric choices, convention and cosplay etiquette, to wigs and makeup.

The cosplay competition featured both singles and groups, with each cosplayer demonstrating a high level of passion and dedication to their beloved anime, manga and video game characters. All cosplayers made the event enjoyable for the crowd as all contestants proved to be thoroughly entertaining. Although the competition was small in comparison to other Brisbane cosplay competitions, with only 23 contestants, the competition was still tight. Congratulations go out to all of the Winners and Runners Up.

After the cosplay competition the crowd was treated to a screening of the 2010 World Cosplay Summit Footage. The footage featured all of the countries involved, showcasing their mind-blowing talent for costumes and skits.

It's safe to say that Animania has out-grown the previous 'Mini-Animania' title that was attached to the Brisbane day festivals. With a huge crowd, and an increased population of cosplayers in attendance, Animania proves that while it is a young convention, it is far from peaking. Each time Animania visits Brisbane it grows, with this Animania being no exception.
