Floatyman

Name: Bryan
Age: 27
Location: Toowoomba
Equipment: Nikon D90

Predominantly self taught from experience and examining other photographers, developed an interest in photography while at TAFE with one of his subjects being Architectural photography. Moved into cosplay photography after receiving positive feedback from photos he had taken at conventions. Even though these early attempts were fairly basic (and in some cases terrible) progress was made. After his Olympus 750 died, purchased a Digital SLR and has continued to make progress with the help of patient cosplayers, brilliant photographers and great friends.

Started Cosplaying in 2003 at the first Brisbane Supanova (Sanosuke Sagara) and found great enjoyment from it and a good way to meet new people. Has made progress also in cosplay, winning several group cosplay awards and minor ‘Best’ awards. Prefers to be behind the camera than in front of it but also finds cosplaying helps other cosplayers relax while taking photos and shows how much he appreciates the costumes.

Metanoia

Name: Kelly
Age: 27
Location: Adelaide
Equipment: Her mind and personality

Has been a big influence on the Australian cosplay scene and is always happy to get involved to make things better. Has been and is a major influence within the Australian Cosplay Guild, AVCon Committee and local medieval groups. Small in stature but not afraid to get things done and is incredibly motivated. Started on the anime cosplay trail at AVCon 2006 as Chidori from Full Metal Panic and has quickly become entrenched in it. Since then she has taken a major role in the organising and running of AVCon.

Cosplay Australia

A website to feature Australian cosplay and Floatyman’s photography has been tossed around for a fair while but nothing concrete was ever decided. It was tossed up weather to create a site that was a cross between cosplay.com and deviantart but the logistics and money of it were too much. It wasn’t until Metanoia stepped forward with the knowledge and willingness to do it that it was taken seriously. In the future it is hoped that Cosplay Australia will grow to be a true feature of the cosplay community in Australia.
